UK filtration group Amazon Filters targets pharma buyers at Copenhagen industry summit

Amazon Filters, the Surrey-based process filtration manufacturer, will use this week's ISPE Europe Annual Conference in Copenhagen to pitch its sanitary filtration systems to pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical buyers, in a bid to deepen its foothold in one of the most demanding segments of the global life sciences supply chain.

The group, headquartered in Camberley, will exhibit at the three-day event running from 20 to 22 April at the Bella Centre, which is expected to draw more than 1,200 delegates from across the drug manufacturing, supply chain, research and regulatory communities.

Amazon's pitch centres on its SupaClean containment system, designed to enable safer filter changeovers when processing the fluid and gas streams used in the production of highly potent active pharmaceutical ingredients, or HPAPIs — an increasingly valuable niche driven by the growth of oncology and targeted therapies, which typically require tighter operator exposure controls. The company will display a SupaClean unit with a cutaway housing on its stand.

Alex Lowther, proposals engineer at Amazon, said the conference was "an ideal opportunity" to demonstrate how the group's filters, housings and technical support "combine improved operator safety with optimised filtration processes".

Alexandra Foulger, sales manager, said the company would also promote its depth and pleated filters for high-efficiency prefiltration, alongside validated 0.2 micron sterilising-grade media for final filtration, and SupaMesh stainless steel cartridges used in steam filtration for sterilisation. The group will additionally highlight its sanitary housings engineered for clean-in-place and steam-in-place operations, which it manufactures in-house from design through to machining, pressing and welding.

The push reflects the broader strategic importance of pharmaceutical end-markets for European industrial suppliers, as drug manufacturers face mounting regulatory scrutiny over contamination control and process integrity, while contending with rising demand for complex biologics and potent small-molecule therapies.

ISPE, the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering, was founded in 1980 and is headquartered in Maryland. It counts more than 2,600 members across 73 countries, spanning process engineers, chemists, pharmacists and production managers.
